Hans-Peter Geh Grant for IFLA Conference Participation

BACKGROUND

At the IFLA Conference in Moscow, August 1991, Dr Hans-Peter Geh, who was IFLA President from 1985 to 1991, donated DEM 20,000 to IFLA, the interest from which should be used for purposes mentioned below.

OBJECTIVE

To sponsor annually a librarian from the geographic region previously called the Soviet Union, including the Baltic States to attend an IFLA Seminar or Conference in Germany or elsewhere for becoming acquainted with new international developments in the field of information.

FINANCES

The Grant is fixed at EUR 1,135.

MANAGEMENT

Under the supervision of the IFLA Governing Board, the Grant is administered by IFLA Headquarters.

SELECTION

The selection is made by a Jury consisting of the Sponsor, Dr Hans-Peter Geh, and the Secretary General of IFLA.

The results of the Jury will be announced before 1 March each year.

APPLICATIONS

The applicants should be either IFLA Personal Affiliates or employees of IFLA Members.

Deadline of application: 1 February of each year.

The applications must be accompanied by a Statement of Intent in English, French or German (not more than 3 pages), which should include:

  • the reasons for application specifying the seminar or conference the applicant wishes to attend
  • a proposed budget, including financial sources from elsewhere
  • a curriculum vitae

REPORTING

A brief report on the Grantee's experience and findings will be submitted to IFLA Headquarters within 6 months after the respective Conference or Seminar.

PROMOTION

Each year, pamphlets with information on the Grant, including application forms will be sent to the IFLA Members and Affiliates with the request to distribute them in their region.

ALTERATIONS IN SET-UP OF GRANT

It belongs to the competence of the IFLA Governing Board to update or adjust the terms of reference as necessary. However, the name of the Grant may not be altered.
